The Semaphore
January 18 2024
In support of the screening of Jocelyne Saab's films organized Wednesday evening at the Sala Rossa by a coalition of cultural organizations of which the collective is a part*, we screened, in collaboration with the Feminist Media Studio, a tribute to the poets Hiba Abu Nada and Refaat Alareer, killed in Israeli strikes this fall.
The poems were accompanied by images taken from the Free Palestine Project, a platform that brings together posters in solidarity with Palestine designed by designers around the world (see https://freepalestineproject.com/); these were Rami Afifi, Hadi Alaeddin, Laura Anastasio, Kinda Ghannoum and Mohammed Qanyawi). The drawn portraits of the poets were by Maitane Azurmendi and Gianluca Costantini.
*The coalition includes Regards Palestinianes, Cinéma Public, Zoom Out, Hors champ, Dhakira Collective, Feminist Media Studio, Cinema Politica, Main Film and PAJU- Palestinian & Jewish Unity.
