Healthcare Not Warfare

From ACT UP:

As Israel ruthlessly resumes its bombing of Gaza, backed by $14 billion in military support from the US government that is proposing nearly $1 billion in cuts to HIV funding, we cry out: FUND HEALTHCARE, NOT WARFARE!

We transformed the inverted pink triangle used in the iconic “SILENCE=DEATH” imagery this World AIDS Day into a watermelon in solidarity with the Palestinian people, we cry out: PERMANENT CEASEFIRE NOW! LET GAZA LIVE!

In 1987, Avram Finkelstein, Brian Howard, Oliver Johnston, Charles Kreloff, Chris Lione, and Jorge Socarrás founded the SILENCE=DEATH Project to support one another in the midst of the AIDS crisis.

On Jan. 22, 1991, five days after the first shot was fired in the Persian Gulf War, three AIDS activists snuck onto the set of the CBS Evening News and ran in front of the camera chanting "Fight AIDS, Not Arabs!"

This World AIDS Day we honor our ancestors who gave their lives to our struggle. We carry forward their legacy by keeping the fight alive.
